Dr. Damsteegt is the owner of Family Psychology Associates, P.C. and is a Licensed Psychologist and a Health Service Provider in Psychology. Dr. Damsteegt is a Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D.) and a Health Service Provider in Psychology. He has been in practice since 1983, including a year of post-doctoral residency in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. His specialties include assessment and treatment of individuals and couples. He has been trained Cognitive Therapy, which is an empirically validated treatment for many disorders, including depression and anxiety. He also is a certified Imago Relationship Therapist. He does assessment of personality, intelligence, ADHD and substance abuse, including being a DOT-SAP. He holds a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Nebraska in 1981. Camille graduated from Cornell College with degrees in Psychology and Kinesiology. She went on to attend graduate school at Vanderbilt University and the University of Northern Iowa, earning her master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. She has an extensive background in psychological testing and evaluations, working several years at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics performing assessments with inpatient and outpatient children, adolescents, student athletes, and adults. While there, she was also the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Coordinator. In addition, she has experience working with families of behaviorally challenged children, completing an internship through UnityPoint’s Teaching Interventions to Empower & Strengthen Families (TIES) program. She is currently pursuing licensure for mental health counseling. Dr. Chris Hagan is a Licensed Psychologist (PhD), professor, and mental-health researcher. Treatment with Chris is individually specialized and focused on each client’s unique goals. He uses only empirically supported treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, Exposure Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to provide you with the best opportunity for recovery. His primary specialty is in understanding and preventing suicide and non-suicidal self-injury, as well as cultural differences in mental health. He received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Florida State University in 2017. He has worked in community mental health clinics, college counseling centers, and completed a year-long internship at the Federal prisons in Terre Haute, IN Specialties: Carla Hughes is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She received her MA degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Iowa and has counseled students at the UNI counseling center. She went on to work with at-risk children at Four Oaks Residential Treatment Center in Cedar Rapids. Carla has been serving the community since 2004 and has worked extensively with children and adolescents using art and play therapies. Also of special interest to Carla is helping couples cope with relationship stressors by building communication skills and in working with individuals with eating disorders
